Selling

How to Begin

The selling process begins with an evaluation of your goods. We can generally provide auction estimates from emailed images. Email us at jack@fairfieldauction.com. If the auction method is not for you, we also can purchase outright.

Single Items to Estate Liquidation

We want to make the process easy for you. We handle the packing and moving of your items and all property in our hands is fully insured.

Our promotion is extensive. We begin with full page ads in national trade magazines and direct mailing of color brochures to our list of thousands of qualified buyers built over thirty years in the industry. Additionally, we publish our full catalog with multiple online marketing partners and employ various social media outlets, driving many thousands of targeted customers to our online catalog to bid on your consignment. For items that aren't suitable for the auction we can offer various solutions to make estate liquidation easy and maximize your results.

For specialized items such as fine art, clocks or rare autographs we make specific directed mailings and email blasts to those collectors of interest. We can also create a single-owner sale with a full color catalog devoted to your collection or important estate.

Very Competitive Rates

Our very competitive seller rates depend on the sales price of each item and range as low as 5%. There are no additional charges. Generally, packing, trucking, insurance, photography and advertising are all included. Occasionally trucking for long distance, single items or property that requires special handling (like pianos) may be at an extra charge. After the auction, you will receive an itemized reconciliation of your consignment with a check within 20 business days.

Reserves and Minimum Prices

To assure results are in line with estimates it is our policy that all property valued at $1,000 or above is offered with a starting bid of 50% of the low estimate. A reserve is a confidential minimum price below which the auctioneer will not sell an item. We accept reserves on property estimated above $2,000 if it is below a conservative low estimate.

Selling Collections

Bringing an entire collection to auction can generate tremendous enthusiasm in the marketplace. We have had great success with collections as diverse as baseball cards, fine lighting, coins and currency, toys and trains, clocks and music boxes, rare books, Asian art, antique firearms, Native American art and fine photography. Over three decades in the industry we have accumulated category specific buyer lists for these specific categories and more. Additionally we market collections through trade groups to reach buyers of those specific categories world-wide.

Outright Purchase

Fairfield Auction is also happy to facilitate the outright purchase of antiques and fine art. Through our network of collectors, dealers and institutional buyers, purchases from $500 to $500,000 can be completed immediately. We can also include clean-out services as part of the transaction.

We are very serious buyers of the following:

American and European paintings and bronzes
Estate Jewelry and Watches, especially Cartier, Tiffany, David Webb, Rolex, Patek Phillipe
Sterling Silver, especially Tiffany and Georg Jenson
